July 9, Tuesday morning brought more fog, but we are in a safe, secure harbor where we do not have to worry about anything. We were hoping to dinghy around to some of the Apostle Islands today, but no dinghying today due to the fog, so our backup was to bike this 12 mile long island. We biked 7 miles to the State Park which has a boardwalk out to the beach & a nice campground, but when we arrived, Doug & Garry looked @ the radar and saw a thunderstorm bearing down on us. We hightailed it out of there and made record time back on our bikes with only a few raindrops as we were approaching our boats.

So everyone essentially took a day off and hung out. During one of the breaks in the rain, a great guy Rick stopped to admire our boat so he & Doug began a dialogue regarding this area. Rick is a member here and his wife's family have roots on the island back to the 1800's. He is a very experienced boater. His boat is a beautiful Legacy named Rosinante. Rick took pity on me and drove me to the laundromat, what better thing to do when it's raining. It was such a good idea that I wasn't the only one with that thought of it; the little place was packed.
Doug surprised me and came up to relieve the monotony and we walked over to the famous Tom's Burned Down Cafe. What a dump, legend has it, it was a bar named Tom's and there was a fire there and burned most of the building. Instead of rebuilding he threw a tarp over the place and it has continued to evolve.

For Docktails, Rick joined back up with us and the charts were brought out to do some serious sharing of great places to visit. Thank you Rick for the ride and the valuable information you gave to us. Another priceless gift we are lucky enough to receive. We wish you many more hot tubs, sauna's and sunsets to enjoy!!
